Additional Recreational and Professional Training

We offer many other specialised courses. At a Recreational or Professional level, we can offer high quality and experienced training in these areas to a variety of skill levels.

Aerobatics

If you are a thrill seeker or want to greatly improve your co-ordination and confidence, then aerobatic flying is a must! We can tailor your training to suit you, starting with basic and progressing toward more advanced aerobatic manoeuvres.

Remote Strip Training

We have access to a large number of remote and challenging strips of various skill levels, many of which are in close proximity to Queenstown. Strip training is a requirement for our Commercial Pilots as we operate to many remote locations often. For any pilot, this is a great way to improve your piloting skills.

Beach Landings

Charter work onto beaches is another task for our Commercial Pilots. It is a unique, enjoyable experience and adds another dimension to your flying.

Flight Instructor Rating

In addition to your Commercial Pilots Licence, you could become a Flight Instructor. As an Instructor you will be training our students towards Private and Commercial Licences, teaching flying and delivering ground theory. This is a great way to improve your flying skills and knowledge while guiding your students towards their own goals and achievements. As you gain teaching experience, opportunities for more advanced instructing in specialised areas will become available to you.

Taildragger Rating

A Taildragger rating is used to hone your piloting skills through its unique handling characteristics.

Night Flying

Flying at night is an exciting and spectacular experience and is a requirement for those wishing to obtain an Instrument Rating.

Multi Engine/ Instrument Rating

The Wakatipu Aero Club can arrange your training towards Multi Engine and Instrument Ratings, which is a requirement towards Airline employment.
