Annual General Meeting
Fri, 21 June 2013

The Wakatipu Aero Club's annual general meeting will be held at the clubhouse on Friday, 21 June 2013 at 6pm.

After official reports for the past year have been received there will be an election of office-bearers for the next year.  Only paid-up members will be eligible to vote.

There have been significant changes and a sense of rejuvenation at the club in recent months so we are very keen that members who've been out of the loop take this opportunity to re-connect and enjoy the benefits of club membership.

Big Bay Fly-away

Waitangi Day = Open Day
Sun, 6 February 2011

On Sunday 6 February the club held an open day so that non-flying members of our community could find out what aviation is all about.

People were able to get close to the aeroplanes, and take scenic and trial flights if they wanted to have a more intimate experience with the technology.

Over a leisurely sausage sizzle, instructors were on hand to explain what's involved in obtaining a pilot licence.

Unfortunately conditions were less than ideal, with strong winds aloft, but that didn't deter a number of visitors from checking out what we have to offer.

5 people bought trial flights, others expressed a desire to learn to fly at some future time, and the raffle for the Wakatipu Youth Flying Trust scholarship raised $268

There was particular interest in the Piper Sport which flew in from Hamilton.   JK took a test flight and the verdict is a quiet, roomy, comfortable, ergonomically pleasant aircraft which would make a good trainer and a good tourer.  All we need to do now is find an owner who'd like to put one on line.

Big Bay Picnic
Sun, 30 January 2011

Unfortunately the weather did not co-operate with our plans for a fly away to Big Bay. This has been re-scheduled for the 12th February, hopefully we will have better luck.
